Nikujaga is a traditional Japanese comfort food made with potatoes, carrots, onions, and tender beef slices cooked in a flavorful broth.
Ingredients:
- 500g beef sliced thinly
- 4 medium potatoes peeled and cut into chunks
- 1 onion sliced thinly
- 2 carrots sliced thinly
- 4 tbsp soy sauce
- 4 tbsp mirin
- 4 tbsp sake
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 cups dashi broth
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions:
In a pot, heat vegetable oil over medium heat
Add sliced onion and cook until translucent
Add beef slices and cook until browned
Pour in soy sauce, mirin, sake, and sugar
Stir well
Add potatoes and carrots to the pot
Pour dashi broth over the ingredients
Cover and simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender
Serve hot and enjoy
