Salt and Pepper Shrimp is a popular Chinese dish known for its crispy texture and flavorful seasoning. This recipe ensures that the shrimp are perfectly coated with a crispy layer of cornstarch and seasoned with a blend of salt, black pepper, white pepper, and garlic powder.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp white pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 green onion, chopped for garnish
Instructions:
In a bowl, toss shrimp with cornstarch until evenly coated
In a separate bowl, mix salt, black pepper, white pepper, and garlic powder
Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat
Once the oil is hot, add the coated shrimp to the pan in a single layer
Fry the shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and crispy
Remove the shrimp from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil
Sprinkle the mixed seasoning over the fried shrimp while still hot
